To discover all the transportation options available in Guadeloupe, we've prepared a handy overview for you.

Air Transport

To reach Guadeloupe, you must pass through the country's international airport, located just 3 km from Pointe-à-Pitre, one of the archipelago's most important municipalities. How convenient! You can fly direct from France in just 8 hours and 30 minutes.

For transatlantic travel, airlines including Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, Corsair, Air Caraïbes, and KLM (to Saint Martin only) serve Guadeloupe. To travel between Guadeloupean and Caribbean islands, you can use Air Caraïbes or Air Antilles Express services.

From the airport, you have several options for getting around the island. Land transport includes car rentals, taxis, and buses.

Land Transport

Car Rental

To explore Guadeloupe's highlights, renting a car is recommended for complete freedom of movement. Car rental agencies are plentiful, especially during high season (December–April). Guadeloupean roads are generally in good condition but fairly congested, with some challenging stretches. We advise driving cautiously and staying alert at all times.

Taxi

For trips from the airport to your hotel or from your hotel to downtown, taxis are essential. Although fares are regulated by prefectural decree, it's advisable to agree on the price before getting in. Be aware that fares for trips outside urban areas are higher. You won't need to wait more than 5 minutes on the street to find a taxi—this transport option is easy to access.

Bus

For adventure enthusiasts, traveling by bus is highly recommended to immerse yourself in the tropical atmosphere of the Guadeloupean community. Experience memorable and authentic moments with locals by taking the bus. This mode of transport is particularly practical and well-developed across the archipelago. Plus, tickets are very affordable.

Two-Wheelers

The more adventurous can rent bicycles, mountain bikes, scooters, or motorcycles to get around town.

Sea Transport

This type of transport primarily handles inter-island connections in Guadeloupe and the Caribbean. While flying is faster and offers breathtaking views, traveling by boat allows you to stay closer to nature and experience the fabulous landscapes that appear distant from above. Sea transport opens the doors to Guadeloupe's various islands.
